Can Diploma Students Build Real AI Apps in 2 Days? GTU ITR Did
Short answer: Yes. In a two-day workshop at GTU ITR in September 2026, more than 40 diploma students went from learning what a prompt is to building a live app on an agentic coding platform, a job-hunting AI agent in n8n connected to Telegram, and their own AI-built CV.

Diploma students are usually considered too early for AI adoption. We wanted to test that. So in September 2026 we ran an experimental two-day workshop at GTU ITR for more than 40 diploma students and watched what happened.
Day one: from zero
We started where every beginner should: what a prompt is, and how to talk to AI like an engineer. Clear goals, context, constraints and format. Then we moved quickly to no-code tools and agentic coding platforms, so students could see AI do real work, not just answer questions.
Day two: build and ship
By the second day the students were building:
- A personal job-hunting AI agent in n8n.
- A Telegram bot connected to that agent.
- Their own CV and resume, built with AI.
- Their first application, built on an agentic coding platform and made live.
Everything was hands-on. Each student left with things that work, not notes about things that might.
What we learned
- Age and level matter less than structure. With a clear process, beginners move fast.
- Shipping something real changes motivation. Once their first app was live, students did not want to stop. Several asked to keep going after day two.
- Career-relevant projects stick. A job-hunting agent and an AI-built CV are things students use immediately.
For colleges and universities
If you run engineering or diploma programmes, a short, practical workshop does more for AI readiness than a semester of theory. I also run faculty development programmes so teachers can continue the work.
